Elizabeth “Beth” Wooster Colpean joined the Grand Rapids Symphony in 2000 as Principal Harpist. Prior to this appointment she was Principal Harp of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
Ms. Colpean’s international music festivals include: The Pacific Music Festival (Japan), The National Repertory Orchestra (USA), Tanglewood Music Festival (USA) and the Seventh World Harp Congress (Prague, Czech Republic). In 1999 she was invited to perform in a distinguished alumni concert at Tanglewood Music Festival and in 2000, she and her mother, Patricia McNulty Wooster were featured in a two-harp recital in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota.
Beth played the world premiere Blind Date for flute and Harp (2015) and in 2017 she collaborated with composer Sheridan Tongue for a PBS documentary winning an Emmy. Beth is a member of Ensemble Montage and is Principal Harp of Baroque on Beaver music festival in Michigan.
Upcoming performances for the 2023-2024 season include, Mozart’s Flute and Harp Concerto with the Grand Rapids Symphony, and a world premiere triple concerto at Baroque on Beaver music festival.
Elizabeth Colpean holds performance degrees from Southern Methodist University and The Cleveland Institute of Music. She lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan with her husband and three children.
