Jeremy Verwys

Jeremy Verwys is a West Michigan musician, instructor and composer. He has completed graduate degrees in both Guitar Performance and Music Therapy at Illinois State University.. He received his Bachelors of Music in performance from Grand Valley State University, studying with Carlos De la Barrera and Associates degree from Grand Rapids Community College with instructors Andrew Bergeron and Brian Morris. Mr. Verwys also co-owns and operates West Michigan Music Therapy, LLC working primarily with children and young adults.

Jeremy Verwys has performed with the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Calvin College Choral program, Hope College’s Dance Program, as well as with the dance faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp where he was commissioned in 2015 and 2016 to compose and perform original works. Jeremy has composed other works for solo guitar, including scoring various dance films. Mr. Verwys was commissioned to compose the introduction music for the podcast Brainfluke in 2021. Jeremy has participated in master-classes with renowned guitarists Thomas Viloteau, Marcin Dylla, Rene Izquierdo, Johannes Möller, and Jason Vieaux, along with private studies with Denis Azabagic, and Adam Holzman.

Jeremy also divides his time as adjunct faculty at Grand Rapids Community College, and Cornerstone University as well as keeping a private teaching studio. Jeremy performs regularly across West Michigan as a solo artist, or his duo partner Alicia Eppinga.
