Pianist Stephen Swedish has built an international reputation as an outstanding soloist and one of the great chamber music pianists and collaborators on the
stage today. He has performed in over 60 countries on five continents with some of the world’s great artists. He received his Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate of
Music degrees from the renowned School of Music at Indiana University. While only in his second year at Indiana, he was invited by legendary cellist Janos Starker to be his regular recital partner. Together they toured the world and recorded some of the great literature for cello and piano. He has also partnered in recital with violinists Henryk Szeryng and Josef Gingold, violist William Primrose, cellists Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi and Andre Emelianoff, among many others.
He has served on the artist faculties of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the University of Maryland and at Texas Christian University at the invitation of legendary pianist Lili Kraus. In addition to his many performances, Stephen Swedish has given many Master Classes around the world.
Since 1996, he has acted as an Artistic Ambassador for the U.S. State Department. In that capacity, he has traveled to such faraway countries as Cyprus,
Malta, Azerbaijan, Kazahkstan, the Republic of Georgia, Chile and Argentina.
He has recorded on the RCA Red Seal, the Mercury and the Gasparo labels.
